Smiley Moments

Have you ever noticed how some things just make you smile? I've had several smiley moments this morning and thought I'd share:
1.) Watching our dog, Sally, run laps in our yard with the soccer ball in her mouth. (Her ball is made specially for dogs, so it has a cloth loop attatched to one end, where you can grab it to throw it...) She had the strap in her mouth and as she ran the ball would bounce from side to side, hitting her in the nose, and making her wince. You would think she would stop- but, no, my nutso dog kept running laps for about 15 minutes! Goofball dog.
2.)Today at breakfast, as I was pouring cereal into bowls for my 3 kids, I realized that we didn't have enough Cinnamon Toast Crunch for everyone. (it's everyone's favorite!) I poured one bowl of CTC, and then got out the Apple Jacks to fill the other two bowls. Knowing that Caleb would probably protest the loudest, I gave him the CTC, so I wouldn't have to listen to his noise. Caleb was first to the table, and when he realized that he had the only bowl of CTC, he looked at me and said, "Mom! Look," pointing to his bowl, "you DO love me!"
3.) Coming home from dropping Aaron off at school, we pass a cornfield. (Yes, we live in a farm community! no hick town jokes, please!) Walking along side of the corn was a very ugly coyote. He was rather skinny, and looked a little ragged. What made me laugh, was watching him walk (rather jauntily, I thought) with an ear of corn in his mouth! I swear it's true! I didn't know coyote's ate corn. They probably don't, but maybe this one was a vegatarian- who knows? But it made me think of Wylie Coyote and Saturday morning cartoons. (you know the GOOD cartoons like I had when I was little, not the junk they have now.) :)
4.) (I THINK THIS WAS MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!!!) I sent Aaron up to get dressed this morning and when he came down, he looked pretty good. Clean shirt, clean shorts, brushed teeth. But when I glanced at his socks, I had to burst out laughing. He had taken his socks and folded them over, like you would fold down little girls socks. (He's watched me do this to Kellie's ruffly socks, a few times, I guess.) The effect was rather ridiculous. I tried to explain that boys don't need to fold their socks down, that they just leave them where they are, or let them scrunch at their ankles, but he insisted he liked them better folded. Knowing that he might be made fun of if I let him out the door like that, I put my foot down, and insisted he put them right. He did, but with one parting shot. He said, "Well, if you say so, Mom, but YOU are a girl, and you just don't know what MEN like." (when did he become a MAN? I though he was still my little boy? )

You must have missed Aaron growing up. After all he does always say, "When I was a kid....."
