Ears, Pumpkins and Clean Floors...

For the most part, I have had a tremendously lazy summer. Mostly we have played in the back yard, read books from the library and sat in our lovely air conditioned home. This weekend, however, was pretty busy. I guess it's time to start getting things in order and get ready to return to our normal schedule now that school is about to start.
Yesterday, Caleb had another hearing screening, and he is great! The tubes have really seemed to help and his hearing has improved even more since his last screening. He's been having bloody noses a lot, and they think it is probably due to a combination of heat, dry air, and allergies. He is on Zyrtec for the allergies and has a humidifier in his room, to help. If you ask him though, the highlight was the little toy dinosaurs he got to bring home for being so good to the doctor.
Last night, Sally, our dog, was really sick. Upon closer examination, we discovered that she got into our garden, and ate a small green pumpkin. After several hours of intermittant vomitting we called the vet, and found out that she will be just fine, but she will probably have an upset tummy for a day or two. She slept in our room last night, and I tried to sleep amidst all the moaning. I hope the poor thing learned her lesson and stays out of the garden from now on. What a miserable night it must have been for her.
This morning we rented a carpet cleaner from Home Depot. My floors are looking SO NICE. I definitely need to do this more often. It's a bit time consuming, but much less expensive than calling in a professional. I've decided that I love clean floors! (Now if someone would just clean the rest of this house, I'd be all set!)
